A Boat in the Woods and a Zoning Question at the Shore

On November 3rd Freeport voters decide whether to change the shoreland rules under which a launch at the cove off Shore Drive was denied in 2025. What the ordinance would allow, who could use it and why the word "temporary" matters to anyone who owns waterfront in the district.

Kate holds a law degree from the University of Maine School of Law and brings years of careful work with records, rules and contracts. Jonas brings a background in finance to pricing and negotiation, and a good eye for problems before the inspector finds them. Suzanne Watson, who founded Balsam with Kate, has bought, restored and sold property in Maine since 1976.
Before Balsam Kate and Jonas owned Azure Cafe in Freeport. They founded the Freeport Community Thanksgiving Dinner and were named Citizens of the Year by the Town of Freeport.
