Kate and Jonas Werner
Balsam Realty is a small Freeport brokerage by design. We opened in 2021 after years of running a business in Freeport and serving on town and nonprofit boards. When you work with Balsam, you work with the two of us.
Kate Werner

Kate grew up in Maine's midcoast and has called Freeport home for two decades. She earned her BA in Political Science and Government from the University of Maine and the University of Southern Maine, and her law degree from the University of Maine School of Law.
She is a certified staging expert and prepares every Balsam listing before the photographer arrives. She holds the National Association of REALTORS® Senior Real Estate Specialist and Pricing Strategy Advisor designations, and works with veterans and active duty service members.
Kate is Secretary of Freeport Folio, a literary arts nonprofit in South Freeport.
Jonas Werner
Broker and founder · BS, Business and Accounting
Jonas came to Maine from southern Florida more than 35 years ago. He graduated from the University of Southern Maine School of Business and began his career in financial services before moving into hospitality and real estate.
At Balsam he handles pricing, positioning and negotiation, and he has a good eye for the problems an inspector will find. He is a longtime board member of Freeport Community Services, where he chaired the Development Committee and served on the Finance Committee.

Before Balsam
Azure Cafe and twenty years of Thanksgiving
We owned and ran Azure Cafe in Freeport until 2020. For more than twenty years we have organized the Freeport Community Thanksgiving Dinner, which brings hundreds of neighbors together each November.
